The Superga Artifact collection takes its name from the Italian word “Artefatto” and pays homage to more than 100 years of expertise in making shoes. Being one of the brand’s highest ranges, it has been designed with classic piece-of-art attention to detail, for the man of today who is keen on basic, utilitarian-style yet refined garment. The W-23 shoes highlighted, boast a moleskin upper which is a heavy cotton fabric, woven and then sheared to create a short, soft pile on one side. The feel and appearance of its nap is similar to felt or chamois, but less plush than velour. This Moleskin fabric comes from the British factory Brisbane Moss, the oldest mill in the UK. Running underneath the uppers is a sole unit constructed from one piece of rubber, which is called a cup sole as the sole unit “cups” the upper. This sole is revived from the ‘70s archives of Superga.
