Collection: Nike SB Dunk Sneakers

First released in 1985, the Nike Dunk was the brainchild of Peter Moore, the legendary Nike designer who helped bring the Jordan 1 and the Terminator silhouettes into being. It’s not surprising, then, that the Dunk shares design cues with the Jordan and the Terminator – but the Dunk had one key difference: its endless number of colourways.

Although the Dunk was originally released as a basketball trainer, it was quickly adopted by skaters due to its superior cushioning and traction. And when Nike updated the silhouette with a nylon tongue a few years later, the Dunk became even more popular on the skateboarding scene. Eventually, Nike took the hint, and the Dunk officially joined the Swoosh skateboarding line as the Nike SB Dunk – complete with a new design to cope with the wear and tear of shredding decks.

Since it jumped ship to Nike’s skateboarding brand, the SB Dunk has seen dozens of iterations, including both a high-top and a low-top version. The silhouette has also been a popular canvas for collabs, drawing some legendary collaborations from brands like Concepts and Supreme. So coveted are these styles that getting your hands on a pair of ’03 SB Dunk x Supreme will set you back at least a couple of grand.
