Collection: Nike Air Max 96 Triax Sneakers
For the first time in 23 years, the Nike Air Max 96 Triax emerged from the vault. First released in 1996, this cult-classic was famed for its stripped-back design in an era of chunky midsoles. This understated, more-proportionate visible Air unit comes paired with a mesh tongue, round laces and a leather Swoosh tab on the mesh toe box. Finished in a mesh upper with durable leather and suede overlays, it’s one of Nike’s most anticipated retros of the year.
This well-loved classic found fame thanks to the Atlanta Summer Olympic Games, when American athlete Michael Johnson dominated the track, winning two gold medals and shattering the previous 200m world record. Inspired by this feat, Nike released a range of USA-colourway sneakers, including one for the Air Max Triax 96.
After years of sneakerheads begging the silhouette to be retroed, Nike finally released the Air Max 96 Triax Retro in December 2019, arriving in two of the Triax 96’s OG colourways. In a welcome return, this retro edition features the same iconic shape, materials and visible Air unit that runners loved over 20 years ago.
