First released in 1982, the Nike Air Force 1 sneaker was named after the aircraft that carries the US president. It was the first basketball shoe to feature a Nike Air unit, bringing the iconic soft, springy cushioning to the courts. Although the sneaker was originally dismissed by sneakerheads, the re-release a few years later saw the shoe hit the streets with style – and Nike has never looked back.

Nike has released hundreds of Air Force 1 colourways over the years, including collabs with the likes of Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky, Levi’s and the NBA. Most recently, the wildly popular AF1 Off-White colourway has made its way into high-street fashion stores across the country, capitalising on the classic white sneaker trend that’s dominating 2019’s summer style.
