First introduced as adidas' premium tennis shoes in 1980, this pair of adidas G.S takes after the 1986 version made in West Germany, keeping most of the features intact, including the unique adjustable shock-absorbing outsole pegs. The green leather 3-stripe branding and heel tab provide a bright contrast to the white body of the shoe. Accents are provided via the shoes 'Paninaro' theme. An Italian subcultural movement in the mid-1980s saw the youths of Milan hang out around burger joints and sandwich shops showing off their 125 bikes and expensive bright ski jackets. Part of their prescribed uniform was a pair of Argyle pattern socks which is called out here via the collar lining, with the playful Paninaro magazine cover font called out on the lateral side.
