Collection: Adidas München Sneakers
A terrace casuals classic. The Adidas München sneaker is an authentic 80s training shoe, designed in textured suede with a classic gum sole underfoot. The silhouette takes its name from Munich, the capital of the German state of Bavaria. Originally released in ’79 as an indoor training shoe, the lightweight München shoe quickly became a coveted Adidas style.
The München sneaker was rereleased in the summer of 2018, as part of Gary Aspden and Adidas Spezial’s Second Summer of Love collection. Inspired by 80s rave culture in the UK, the range acts as a throwback to the so-called second summer of love, when warehouse raves and acid house music ruled all. The München’s all-night comfort made it a favourite amongst ravers, pairing well with the smiley-face fashion of the late 80s.
The 2018 München shoe brings back the vintage 80s look, with a short toe and thick midsole making the shoe instantly recognisable. The silhouette ditches the t-shaped suede toe panel found on most terrace shoes, making the style easy to spot amongst other classics from the archives. Landing in a selection of bold colourways, the München comes complete with a premium suede upper and leather branding to the sidewalls.
