Vans x David Bowie

Vans honour the late David Bowie with a capsule collection paying homage to Bowie's albums and the alter ego that accompanied each during his illustrious career. 

Kicking things off is the Era reimagined in a 'Space Oddity' makeup. A predominantly blue upper features a polka dot print reminiscent of Bowie's second album released in 1969. A black vulcanized sole unit completes the look with 'Oddity' spelt out on the inside foot using the original album font.

Following the Era is the Vans UA Slip-On 47 V, an archive Slip-On variant decked out in a plush faux fur and yellow suede paying homage to the Hunky Dory album. David Bowie's name is proudly called out on the strap and on the dual-branded footbeds. Much like the Era this edition features the album name called out in the same font on the midsole.

Perhaps Bowie's most iconic look arrived with 1973's Aladdin Sane album featuring a portrait photograph of David Bowie on the front wearing the now iconic red and blue flash makeup all in aid of contributing to his otherworldly stage alter ego. These Old Skool Vans features the iconic red and blue flash across a white upper with a metallic finish to further evoke the man from another world image that Bowie portrayed on stage.

The classic Vans Sk8-Hi features twice in the capsule first seen blending Vans world recognised checkerboard pattern with 1974's Diamond Dogs font called out via a bright red embroidery. The second SK8-Hi dubbed the Platform 2.0 honours Bowie's striking Ziggy Stardust alias and arrives in a suitably bold red leather base. Which plays host to a repeat debossed 'Bowie' pattern completed with a black rubber outsole.

The final footwear style takes its inspiration from David Bowie's 2016 Grammy award-winning album 'Blackstar'. Using the Slip-On once more as a base both shoes feature a 'Blackstar' print across the top of the foot, a star print lining and debossed stars on the sole unit complete things.
