New Orleans based Sneaker Politics have two new upcoming releases from Saucony Originals. The first is a sky blue number dubbed “the Cannon” and the second one is navy and gold called “The Jackson”.
“The Cannon” is based on the colour of the cannons used during the Battle of New Orleans 200 years ago. They were coloured as such in order to camouflage them against the sky as the British approached. They weigh three tons (the cannons not the shoes) and have definitely withstood the test of time as they’re still on display in Louisiana today. They also definitely worked as they managed to kick us back across the pond with them.
Each pair of Canon Blue Courageous will come with 3 sets of laces (White, Black and Red Tips and Canon Blue).

The second release titled “The Jackson” is inspired by Andrew Jackson, the commanding officer who led the US to victory over the British invasion during the battle of New Orleans around 200 years ago. Jackson went on to become the 7th president of the United States of America. Alongside Jackson was pirate Jean Lafitte and his men who Jackson later praised for “exhibiting the same courage and fidelity” as his troops. Both important individuals have been commemorated within the footbeds of the Jackson with the Stars and Stripes gracing one and the flag of Lafitte’s Cartagena on the other.
The homage to Jackson continues on the colour way that mimics his uniform. The upper features cream suede as well as good leather, whilst the perforated tongue has a gold print of Jackson. All this is finished up with a blood red outsole which I think we’d all agree makes this release well Jackson.
