Reebok Classics has united with Tokyo’s mita sneakers to update its classic cross-trainer with a military-inspired vibe.
With a discerning eye and an innate ability to think outside the sneakerbox, mita sneakers’ creative director Shigeyuki Kunii has been responsible for some of the most innovative sneaker collaborations of all time. He is no stranger to the Reebok archive either, having worked on numerous projects including the Phase 1 Pro, ClassicLeather and InstaPump Fury. On this occasion, the Workout Low was selected as the canvas of choice. This is the first official partnership in Reebok Classics’ “Year of fitness” campaign that will run throughout 2017.
The Workout Low’s DNA has been spliced with that of another Reebok model, the heavy-duty Hyper Velocity boot. Flaunting ‘Coyote Brown’ suede and rugged canvas lifted directly from the combat boot, grab-handle heel tabs add an extra layer of military-spec fashion influence that is capped off with dual-branded insoles that display mita sneakers’ famous chain-link fence. The result is a unique blend of utilitarian performance and boutique style that should quickly become a fan favourite in Tokyo and beyond.
