The other big Nike release for Black Friday is one of the most sought after colourways that Jordan has ever done. Debuted in 1993 at the infamous NBA All-Star Game it wasn’t until 2007 when the shoes got an official release.
This game went down in history for a number of reasons. It was the last All-Star Game for Isiah Thomas and the first for Shaquille O’Neal. Both started for the East alongside Scottie Pippen, Larry Johnson and, of course, Michael Jordan. They went up against John Stockton, Clyde Drexler, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone and David Robinson of the Western All-Stars. This match-up is impressive because, apart from Shaq and Larry Johnson, all starters have secured their place in the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame.
This aqua version of the Jordan 8 is one of the 3 original colourways and perhaps the most popular of those. After 2007’s re-release this is only the second retroed version and the original Jordan 8 was the first of the Jordan signature series to not feature the Nike logo on it at all. Legendary designer Tinker Hatfield had tried to convince Nike that Jordans should have their own logo since the Air Jordan VI era and finally had his way with the Air Jordan 8.
