New Balance is known for their numbering system, originally used as method of giving each model equal precedence. So what does it mean when you add a .5 to the already well established numbering system?
Well in this case it means that this is a hybrid release, not some sort of custom made hybrid like a 1500 with an Air Max sole or something equally cray but an official hybrid. What they’ve done is taken the upper from the 997 and fused it with the sole unit from the 998. The end result is the 997.5, with this iteration taking on a traditional tonal grey suede and mesh colourway. Complimenting the suede and mesh on this US crafted release is some leather detailing and some 3M accents, ensuring that your footwear stays lit at night.
