This September Mizuno celebrates its renowned Wave Line. The Wave line started in the '90s with the introduction of the Wave Rider 1. Which kicked started Mizuno's Kazoku project in 2018. A project that brought together a collective of boutiques and brands that inhabit the sneaker industry to reinterpret Mizuno's vast archive of styles.
This latest pack sees the Wave Rider 1 OG, Wave Rider 10 and newly introduced Wave Rider Neo come together to celebrate Mizuno's unique charm. Scroll down for a full overview and in-depth look at each style.

The original Wave Rider has remained popular with runners since its launch in 1998 and was the first to feature the ever-reliable Mizuno Wave technology used in many of the brand’s current designs. Now, the classic silhouette will be reissued as the new Wave Rider 1 OG and the first sneaker to launch as part of the brand’s new Sportstyle category — a style-focused lifestyle line presenting a unique take on contemporary sneakers.
In order to honour the original design’s legacy and hardcore fanbase, Mizuno keeps the Wave Rider's iconic aesthetic and time-tested features unchanged. Just like the original, it features a white dual-mesh and full-grain leather upper with a partially black vamp, white midsole and black outsole. The signature Runbird logo appears in red on the toe box and heel counter and black on the quarter panel, outlined with gold stitching. Reflective piping and lace keepers nod to the sneakers running heritage. The result combines classic features with a modern sensibility.

A true icon of the road, the Wave Rider 10 represents the 10th anniversary since it was first introduced to the market in 1997. Designed for neutral runners looking for a cushioned and responsive ride the Wave Rider 10 was designed to perform for runners at all levels.
The midsole of the Wave Rider 10 features Mizuno’s famous Wave Technology, a thermo plastic insert designed to provide cushioning, stability & energy return for a smooth running experience. Coupled with a highly shock-absorbent VS-1 foam heel wedge and AP Midsole Foam the Wave Rider 10 provides a cushioned yet responsive ride whilst still maintaining its lightweight. The outsole uses an X10 carbon rubber which is extremely hard-wearing in high impact areas and supplements traction at heel strike.
The upper of the Wave Rider 10 utilises Mizuno’s AIRmesh upper which is designed to provide maximum breathability and comfort. Further breathability is provided by MIZUNO INTERCOOL, a full-length midsole ventilation system which reduces heat and humidity build-up inside the shoe

With the goal of bringing energy return to new extremes comes the birth of the Wave Rider Neo. The use of a full-length MIZUNO ENERZY midsole combined with an additional layer on the heel known as the wave plate technology ensures better cushioning, and a more propulsive running experience. The seamlessly woven upper expands vertically, keeping the foot in place during extreme propulsion and the bootie tongue construction adds to a snug midfoot fit. All adding up to creating the lightest Wave Rider ever created tipping the scales at a feather-like 260g.
