Hummel J x Monkey Time “Wastelands” apparel collection
Realized at the intersection of Danish sport design and Japanese street culture, hummel J and Monkey Time are proud to present their exclusive collection, entitled Wastelands, depicting a unity of Danish and Japanese aesthetics.
Dubbed after the open areas of the vast Danish nature, the collection joins the meticulous process of Japan with the functional entity of Danish design. Following the hummel J credo of creating performance wear for shifting conditions, the collection boasts a reinterpreted version of hummel’s iconic Marathona-sneaker along with a six-piece apparel range, all referencing the multiple beige hues that characterize the urban wilderness.
For the Wastelands collection, the Marathona-sneaker is presented in an upper of multiple hues of beige suede and leather alongside a tonal midsole and embossed branding, placed atop a gum sole. Accompanying the sneaker is a six-piece apparel range, featuring a bomber jacket, a coat, and cargo bottoms, all cut from military twill alongside short-sleeved sweatshirts made from velour. Produced in Japan from carefully sourced fabrics, the collection is created by the use of methods based in artisanal production.
Utilizing its reference point, the hummel J x Monkey Time Wastelands collection has been shot on location in the area surrounding Skjern Å, a river that has its outlet in a lagoon of the North Sea and its name after its river delta, Skjern. Acting as an impeccable backdrop, the area surrounding Skjern Å and its fallow fields are in tune with the colour palette of the collection.
Available in limited numbers, only 250 pairs of the Marathona-sneaker and 110 products per apparel style, the collection will be available 00:01GMT on Thursday 12th May
