We touched on the Greek legend of Ariadne and Theseus the other week when the first two colourways of Diadora’s new “Weave” pack came in and now the third and final “Saltire Navy” colourway has arrived.
Ariadne and Theseus. Two threads directly unwinding from Greek mythology interweave to create a seamless upper in three colour versions, thus enriching the V7000 model created in the 90’s and devoted to sprinters.
Ariadne was put in charge of the legendary labyrinth in which the Minotaur dwelled and enjoyed the sacrifices of seven young men and maidens from Athena every seven or so years.
Theseus, who was the son of King Aegeus, volunteered to come and kill the Minotaur. Ariadne fell in love at first sight, and helped him by giving him a sword and a ball of thread, so that he could find his way out of the Minotaur’s labyrinth.
For this new “Weave” pack we see the Italian sportswear giants dive into one piece knit upper territory with the V.7000 weave. Detailing comes in the shape of a suede heel panel with embroidered branding and sitting on top of a shock absorbing EVA Foam midsole with a Hi-Density rubber outsole.
