Champion Reverse Weave Apparel SS/17

Leading heritage sportswear brand ‘Champion’ release their long awaited collection for Spring/Summer 2017.

This includes their infamous ‘Reverse Weave’ line consisting of the brands staple crew neck sweatshirts, hoodie’s and sweatpants in a range of classic grey marl, dark navy and crisp white core colour ways as well as an introduction of muted pastels including mint green’s, yellows and pinks, all in the brands patented Reverse Weave fabric.

Champion is renowned for pioneering the first ever sweatshirts in the 1930’s and solely inventing the famous ‘Reverse Weave’ fabric back in 1952; a technique using a heavy cotton knitting process to ensure the garments avoid vertical shrinkage, eliminate stretching and ensure durability.

SS/17 sees the brand carry this throughout their collection and experiment with bold and colourful prints of Californian Palm Springs, archive catalogue covers and campaigns and a rework of their infamous all-over logo print reinventing the Champion full-script into a timeless repeat box logo.

In addition to the classic main line, Champion introduces their ‘PP Spray’ sub-collection for the first time; core pieces garment dyed and manually sprayed using a technique that give a worn, vintage effect much like the archive sweatshirts from the early 90’s. This runs alongside their new ‘Indigo’ line marked by the use of a homonymous dying technique that lends the basic products a certain richness. The dying process ensures an effect where the products fade slowly after each wash.
