The Los Angeles-based lifestyle brand Oyster Holdings have been quietly revolutionizing the concept of the tracksuit since 2014. Taking inspiration from the fast-paced lifestyle of the modern traveller, their mantra of ‘travelling is a sport’® results in luxurious, laid-back takes on classic casual clothing. The latest adidas Originals by Oyster Holdings release embodies both the travel and sport elements that are key to the brand. Delving into the adidas archives, they unearthed an inspiring selection of vintage tracksuits and Olympic team uniforms to help their vision of a ‘World Traveler’s Cup’ come to life. Bold blocks of colour dominate across both the apparel and the footwear, echoed in the bright, retro stylings of the specially created co-branding that appears across each piece.

As one might expect, the apparel offering is dominated by team-style matching track suits and ‘kits’. Rather than drawing on one single sport for their imagined cup, Oyster Holdings pluck references from across a range of pursuits. An engineered polo shirt and matching shorts allude to the soccer stylings of days gone by, rendered here in bright shades of green, red and orange. Contrasting white three-stripes appear on the underarms of the polos and run down the front of each leg on the shorts, while both feature the Trefoil-featuring golden logo designed specifically for the collection. A blue and white track top with exterior mesh inserts and Oyster Holdings by adidas branding takes vintage Olympic team-garb as its starting point and is accompanied by matching track pants. The upper half of the tracksuit also comes in a bright red colorway. A single, striking piece of outerwear features in the form of a transformable, packable jacket made from water repellent fabric. Its extendable hem offers added protection against the elements, while its ability to pack down into a bag makes it ideals for journeys between varying climates. A similar approach is taken to the collection’s duffle bag, a weekender-sized piece that also packs down into its own exterior pocket.
A new take on the adidas Samba football trainer rounds out the collection, appearing in three eye-catching colourways: blue, yellow and red. Crafted from premium leather and ripstop fabrics, the uppers feature gold Oyster Holdings branding above the three stripes, as well as a retro Oyster Holdings logo and classic gold trefoil on the heel. Each pair comes with seven pairs of brightly coloured laces for an added blast of vibrant, team-inspired variation, while the passport stamps on the sockliner are a further subtle celebration of the global Oyster Holdings traveller.
