The latest adidas Originals by Bristol Studios collection takes inspiration from creative director, Luke Tadashi’s summers in Venice Beach“As kids, my two best friends - MAASAI and London - and I would ride our bikes through Venice to hoop with the adults on Venice Beach. We’d do this practically every day in the summer - it was our ritual. This collection recaptures that time in our youth.” Luke Tadashi, Creative Director
Luke speaks of the collection inspiration ‘The capsule consists of a track jacket, snap pants, hoodie, t-shirt, and 3⁄4 length shorts. On the footwear side, there is a new BYW LVL II sneaker and slides. The colour story takes inspiration from the colours we would see on our bike rides through Venice - colourful, but muted tones. We shot everything on-location, retracing the bike route we took as kids to the courts on the beach. The collection is modelled by the 3 of us - Luke Tadashi, MAASAI Ephriam, and London Perrantes - and 3 kids (intended to be younger versions of ourselves). The young kids who modelled the collection are all family, related to either Luke, MAASAI or London.’
The adidas x Bristol Studio Collection launches at HANON on Thursday 27th of June ONLINE; 23:00 BST.
A French Terry hoodie that takes design cues from our inline collection: a contrast kangaroo pocket showing the loop-side of the terry. For the T-shirt bristol Studio drop an oversized t-shirt that also takes inspiration from their inline collection. It sports an oversized collar to pay homage to the t-shirt collars the crew wore as kids. A jock tag is above the hem as a reference to basketball jerseys. Rounding off the garment offering is a cornerstone of Luke’s closet. The 3⁄4 short perfect for LA weather and something that every hooper had growing up.
This brand new BYW LVL II combines premium leathers and textured knit mesh. The highlight of the sneaker is that the left and right shoe are mirror images of one another. We added a patchwork detail on the inner of the sneaker to tie into the design of the slides. The sneaker comes with 4 different colour options for laces, giving versatility when styling. Dropping alongside the BYW LVL II is the classic adidas adilette Slide finished here in a patchwork style constructed of classic “sport” materials such as meshes, leathers, and suedes.
