FIRST LOOK: adidas City Series London
The adidas 2019 City Series touches down on UK shores this July following a jaunt across the continent to Bern, Switzerland in May. The London is no stranger to trainer aficionados, and we’ve seen the shoe pop up in swathes of colour combinations across the year but for 2019, we are being treated to an authentic, undiluted full fat London City Series experience. The original colour inspiration has perhaps been lost to time; the striking red & black combination seems a fitting representation of many things synonymous with London such as phone boxes double-decker buses, Black Cabs and the iconic uniforms of the 'Beefeater' guards.
The 2019 'London' is a faithful reproduction of a Romanian made pair from the time. Offered here in a rich scarlet red suede, with black leather overlays around the lace and on the heel tab. The London city name is proudly called out on the midsection in signature adidas fashion via a gold foil application. Finally, and most importantly we see a low-profile gum sole unit utilised, the same style that we’ve previously seen on the Berlin, Koln & Dublin in recent years. Complete with its distinctive hexagonal outsole pattern of course.
Continuing the series tradition each pair arrives accompanied by a card insert bearing both the shoes history and a custom illustration by Jean Kaiser Knight. For the London leg of the City Series, we continue our collectable scarf series. We’ve produced an exclusive HANON collectable City Series scarf to accompany every pair of London’s sold from HANON both ONLINE, IN-STORE at our Aberdeen location & for one weekend only, at our HANON Sporting Goods location in East London. Produced in England by authentic football scarf manufacturers, each City Series Scarf is made from 100% acrylic wool featuring the shoe’s iconic colourway immortalised in the style of a matchday scarf with an inverted HANON colourway on the flip.
