The first 4D release of what’s shaping up to be a big year, is the long-awaited ZX4000 4D launch. We first clocked the latest 4D at adidas’s “roots of running” exhibition In London last year. The upper see’s a reshaped style that borrows heavily from the originals late 80’s design with the inclusion of multiple panels and a subdued but equally stunning pastel palette. But crucially reshapes it into a more contemporary piece that lends itself to be joined with the purpose-built groundbreaking sole unit.
Regarding the headline act, the result is a lattice-like midsole created from light, air and liquid, taking the form of over 20,000 struts that can be individually tuned to maximize control on energy return. Designed to optimize the running experience like no other midsole before it, CONSORTIUM 4D technology is a combination of craftsmanship, athlete-driven data and sporting excellence.
