For one of this years last Consortium series releases Singapore based Limited Edt give us their very special take o the Superstar 80v and ZX Flux.
Even without deeper knowledge of Singapore’s cultural heritage, past traditions, or costumes the reference to the country’s cultural roots is easy to spot on these models – they are literally all over both shoes. Limited Edt looked at the characteristic Batik fabrics as part of their home country’s traditional attire. The patterns are created in an intricate process whereby colours are applied in multiple cycles of painting, dyeing, and rinsing. Leaving aside this costly and time-consuming technique, Limited Edt focused on the distinctive designs and created a custom floral pattern incorporating Singapore’s national flower, an orchid, the adidas Trefoil, and the store’s own emblem.
The ZX Flux, with it’s all-fabric upper clearly carries most of this visual reference – the print covers the whole shoe – while on the Superstar ‘only’ tongue, lining, and heel tab got the Batik treatment. Subtlety, however, is not to be expected from either style as rose gold was applied as highlight to top it all off. While the ZX Flux’s heel stabilizer appears to be dipped in gold, for the Superstar it’s signature shell toe received the shiny finish.
The Superstar 80v features ultra soft, black premium leather upper & stripes. A floral all-over print tongue, heel-tab & lining with an off-white midsole with contrasting stitching. Rose gold coloured metal Shell Toe, rose gold coloured adidas & Limited Edt branding and two sets of laces with rose gold coloured tips.
