Levi's 1919 Corduroy Pant

Corduroy means "Corde or cloth of the king".
Levis first manufactured pants in this traditional fabric in 1909 and this model appeared a decade later. Featuring an unusual 10-wale cord which is thicker and bulkier than the more modern 14-wale. There is cotton twill inside the waistband and pockets, also a herringbone tape flattens and busts the seams adding strength to the seat.
The combination of this fabric with such a style is thought to have come from a demand for warmer clothing, the ginger shade of corduroy is a classic complementary colour with denim blue. It has been washed hard and broken to give the wearer a softer feel.
