The Levis brand number 3 range was its most affordable of the time. Made in basic quality Amoskeag denim, it had only one thread colour and a distinctive indigo and grass-green printed linen patch it is a very basic garment, both in construction and look but with a winning simplicity. It shares many design features with the very first rivited jeans only 40 years later. The quest for the right looms and spinning machines to recreate the fabric for this jean lead to the purchase of disused equipment from Russia.
