Levi's 1873 First Blue Jean
|
| |
The XX, the oldest pair of Levis 501 jeans known, dates back to the 19th century and lives in a fireproof vault in the Levis archives in San Francisco. Levi Strauss and his partner Jacob Davis created the first blue jean in 1873. The XX was designed to be a pair of waist overalls you wore over street clothes while working or spending your day on a horse. Its copper rivited durability was so new and so unique that it was covered by various newspapers.
